    Default Monks and Stunning Fist

    Hey Martdon,

I was just checking into your bug report.

Are you sure about the Stunning Fist thing? There are lots of Monk Bonus feats (Diehard, Improved Trip, Combat Expertise, etc). All of them can be taken as normal feats, as well as slotted in the bonus feat slot.

If SF can ONLY be slotted as a Monk Bonus feat, that would make it an outlier wrt all the other feats.

Yes, I was told this after posting a monk build on the forums. I didn't believe it at first, but went and verified that it is actually the case.

Every other Monk Bonus feat can be taken as a normal feat. The only two bonus feats that aren't actually selectable by other classes as normal feats are Deflect Arrow and Stunning Fist.

Deflect Arrow is allowed to be taken as a regular feat.
Stunning Fist is not allowed to be taken as a regular feat.

Here's a screenie with me leveling to level 3 as a Monk. Stunning Fist is not taken, but it is not available to me.

Wow, that is really weird. Why would the devs put in one feat that behaves differently than all the rest? My theory is they are screwing with us. They are putting in all these odd things just to mess with the character planner

Okay, I guess we will have to deal with this. The best option I can think of is to make a new Monk Feat tag that works just like Monk Bonus except it is exclusive to that slot type. I guess we could call it Monk Exclusive (or something like that). It'll take a little coding, but nothing major.

Or we can send some stern emails, expressing our dissatisfaction with this peculiar feat. 8D

Okay, it should be fixed. Let me know if there are any issues with it. So far I don't see any, but then I haven't really extensively tested it.

Yeah, it looks like it's good. Stunning Fist can only be taken at 1,2,6, the rest of the feats that can be taken as bonus are able to be taken as regular feats.

The only 'inconvenience' I can see, is that it still is white on every other feat select (but you can't actually take it), and people may comment how they can't actually select it, but having it is now correct. (The Dilettantes are like this as well, come to think of it)

I had to do a feat swap on my monk, because I had her planned out to take it at level 9, so no more of that will happen to people. (At least you get 1 free one anyway)

Hmm, it should be possible to have it not appear on levels where you can't take it. I'll get that fixed. As well as the dil. feats.

[edit: okay, done. Should work properly now. It's funny that I had the code for the dilettante feats in, but I had it in the wrong place. It was testing for slot types in the class feats, and of course, these are race feats, so it was never hitting the false condition. It took me a few minutes to figure out why the feat was never failing the conditional, heh. I moved the test into the race feats section and all is well].
