I'm distinctly in the bitterness phase, perhaps slowly moving into the acceptance phase. Not that I should be one to complain about missed deadlines or anything, I suppose

SR Donaldson will have published 2 books (as of October 19th) of the Thomas Covenant series in the time since the last SOIAF was released. Any bets on if the next (and last) book of that series (due out in 2013) will be published before or after ADWD sees the light of day (c'mon, who wants to get in on the over/under?).

At this point, I think someday we probably WILL see ADWD, but I'm seriously doubting we will ever see books 6 and 7 (assuming GRRM can stick to his plan of wrapping it up in 7 books). Which is really very unfortunate. It was a great series, and deserved an ending.

This is getting close to Duke Nukem Forever territory. I'm glad now I didn't read the books when you last mentioned them several years ago, although I'll get to them eventually.

    AHAHAHAHAH!

I had just finally gotten to the library to pick up A Feast For Crows... and noticed that hey, it's been out for 5 years, the next book should be done as well (especially with the note at the end) !

    I guess not >_>

I'm so behind on the series I claim to be reading, though, that I don't really care--still have to get a new copy of WoT #4 so I can get to #12.

( Mebbe I should pick up the next Thomas Covenant books from the library? I've read the first of series 3, and should probably reread series 1 to see if it's as good as I remember )

    It is

When I discovered SRD was writing a third TC series, I went back and reread the first and second one (it had been like 20 years since I had read those). And they are remarkably good. I have minor quibbles with book 5, it's not my favorite, but even then, the worst of the TC books is better than 95% of the stuff I read, heh.

Not to mention, SRD puts out books like clockwork. You can be reasonably sure we'll get the final book in oct 2013. It certainly won't be 5 years and no end in sight like *some* authors I could name...

I've never read his GAP series. I've always meant to. I'll have to see if it's available on Kindle once I finish the current books I'm reading (though that won't be for a while, I'm on book one of a 10 book series, all of which are huge, heh).

For the love of God tell me it's not L. Ron Hubbard's Mission Earth!

Heh, no. I read that long ago, I didn't think it was too bad. Definitely fluff, as I remember, but not bad fluff.

No, I've just started the Malazan series.

It's supposed to be pretty good, though by all accounts the first book is difficult to get through. So I will reserve judgement on it until I get at least into the second book.

Is there a difference between bad and crap, the latter of which describes Mission Earth? Oh yeah, and overly verbose--which is not redundant in this case.
