    Default Milestone 1

    Hey gang,

I've decided that before doing much more on the game in terms of the level design and all that stuff that you see in the Milestone 1 list, I'm going to go ahead and work on some front-end stuff.

I'm probably not going to put up a list for this stuff, as it is uninteresting. It all has to do with databases and news and front-end menus and such. Nothing very particularly game related, I'm afraid. Although then again, I may. I find those lists to be very helpful for myself, just to keep me organized and focused. I dunno, we'll see how it goes.

I'm trying to swing it such that I have most of next week to work on DC, and it's looking like that will be the case, so I hope to get a lot of this pretty far along.

So anyway, that's why you are not seeing the M1 list advance any, because I am not working on it. But I am working on the game, progress is being made.

Right, so after some discussion, I'm putting up a list

Milestone 1 has now become Milestone 2, and Milestone 0 is now Milestone 1 (the php code that controls the milestone list display would put up weirdness if I left M0 as M0 instead of M1, so I changed it).

Unfortunately, the M1 list will be under the M2 list, which is how I set it up on purpose on the assumption that new lists should be at the top. So you will have to scroll down to see the new M1 list. It isn't complete yet (I'm still doing a little bit of research), but should be complete within the next day or two.

The M1 list is complete. Now to implement it...

I think I've gone blind or am just overlooking.

How do we view the milestone list again?

If you have the nav bar open on the right, look under "The Game Project", the last entry is "Milestone List". Milestone 1 is underneath the listing for Milestone 2.

Actually it's "Milesone List" - right above "Dungeons & Dragons Onlilne"

And just to let you guys know, of the 28 items in the M1 list, #2 is, by far, the most complex of the bunch. Even though I have old code I can use as a template (and thank goodness for that!), it still has to be converted to a) be compatible with the new engine and b) updated to comply with my current coding practices (which have changed considerably since then).

Also, this one has an added wrinkle in that it will use a lot of packed files for the data, and that added a fair bit of complexity to the process. (consider that if even one file in a pack file set changes, the entire set has to be repacked. This leads to different file version sets for the server side and client side).

It's coming along pretty well. I hope to be done with step 2 by the end of the week. Once that is done, we are actually further along in the Milestone than the chart gives us credit for. The rest of the list, while not exactly trivial, is much more straightforward than that second item

I just noticed your new sig and roffled. Didja happen to catch last night's episode, with Baljeet's female friend, and Doofenshmirtz' foiling of Perry? (My wife's new puppy is fairly brainless. I've nicknamed him the Doof.)

Heh, no. I catch it in the mornings. It is on when the little ones get up, so we put it on for "them". So no, I haven't yet seen the new one.
