Thank you for your interest in our game, and for helping us test the stability of our code. The first thing you will need is the game's launcher, which you can download here. Simply right click on the link below, and save the file to a directory of your choice. It's best to put it into it's own directory, as it will eventually create several subdirectories. To play the game, you need to be running Windows 95 or higher, and will need to have DirectX 8.0 or better installed. You will also need Winsock2 (which you almost certainly already have). If you are unsure about any of these things, just ask on our forums, and we'll be glad to help. If you cannot connect to the server (i.e. the Launcher never goes past "Connecting to Server"), there are a couple of possible reasons. First, make sure you are running a current version of the Launcher. Right now, the Launcher version (shown at the bottom left of the window) must read at least 2959.2392. If you have a version earlier than this, you probably won't be able to connect, or possibly will receive corrupted packets. If you are not sure what version you are running and can't connect, it is always a good idea to try to redownload the current Launcher from this page. If this doesn't seem to be the problem, it is possible the server is not currently running when you are trying to connect. The server is running roughly 12 hours a day, usually from about 8 am to 8 pm PST on weekdays, give or take. Soon it will be running 24 hours a day 7 days a week, but we aren't quite there yet. Once you have the program, run it and it will start the launcher. Note that in general you only need to download this launcher once. It has the capability of updating both itself and the client files you will need. The first time you run the launcher, you will be downloading all the client files. This could take a little while, but it is handled for you. Don't worry if you lose your connection during the updating process. The program will pick back up where you left off once you reconnect.
