Some badges in the game are special event badges, which just means they can only be earned at a certain time, after which they cannot be earned. This is a bit of a problem for completists (such as myself) who want to get ALL the badges, because if you miss them, they are gone forever. However, not all hope is lost. This is only speculation on my part, but these could be annual event badges. I see no reason why the Holloween badges (for instance) won't come around again next year. We'll see. Halloween So here are the Holloween badges. To get them (all except the Eochai badge), go to any door (preferably with a team) and try to open it. About half the time you will get a treat (an inspiration). The other half you will get a trick (a group of beasties). Take out enough of these guys, and you will get the badges. You can click on a door about once per minute, which is why it's a good plan to have a large team (each person can door click, vastly speeding up the process). For the Eochai badge, your best bet is to get together a team. A lot of people tend to be hitting on Eochai at the same time, so unless you can be pretty sure you will be the one doing the most damage, having a team hitting on him gives you a better chance of getting the badge. It only takes one Eochai to get the badge, as long as when he goes down, you or your team has done more damage to him than anyone else.
The Winter Event The Winter Event began on January 12th, 2005, and is widely expected to last 12 days. It involves snow monsters and will give you two new badges. Although there are very few creatures when the event begins, it ramps up, and by the end it is expected there will be a great number of Winter Lords to be found. As with the Eochai badge, your best bet to get the Frozen Fury badge is to gather a team. Again, it only takes one Winter Lord defeat to get the badge, as long as when he goes down, you or your team has done enough damage to qualify for the badge.
